Ayr House B&B - Echuca, Victoria, Australia

Echuca is approximately three hours drive from Melbourne and is situated on the banks of the Murray River . It is Australia's paddle boat capital and home to the World's oldest wooden-hulled working paddle steamer, the P.S. Adelaide.

Echuca was founded in 1853 by ex-convict Henry Hopwood, who seeing the opportunity to make some money set up a punt across the river to carry goods for traders. Then in 1864 the government railroad reached Echuca connecting the port of Echuca to the port of Melbourne.

Amongst the beauty of Echuca and its history is Ayr House.

Situated within easy walking distance to restaurants and Echuca's shopping precinct, guests are offered the personal touches one would expect when visiting friends. Ayr House is furnished with wonderful period pieces collected by Doug over the years. The elegant double bedrooms exude warmth and comfort which is mirrored by sumptuous library, lounge and dining rooms.

Following a lavish four-course breakfast you can set out to explore all that Echuca and the surrounding district has to offer. You might prefer however to sink into a comfy lounge with a good book from the extensive library or enjoy the company of your companions around a crackling fire. That evening consult with Doug about your dining whims and he will happily arrange a restaurant to suit your needs.

Ayr House is bed and breakfast accommodation in a grand style, right in the heart of the historic Murray River port of Echuca. "Come as a guest, leave as a friend .... a sure recipe to make your visit a memorable one!"
